Creative is the targeting
On Meta, the algorithm handles targeting and the budget sets the ceiling. The one lever you control that changes performance is the creative.
A weak creative aimed at a perfect audience loses to a strong creative with no targeting at all.
What creative means
- Hook: the first two seconds of a video, or the top third of an image. If it doesn't stop the scroll, nothing else matters.
- Visual: the product, in context, doing its job. Real photos earn more trust than renders, and video earns more attention than stills.
- Copy: explain the mechanism, not how good it is. "Two roasts, blended" beats "amazing flavor."
- Offer: what they get and why now. No offer means no urgency.
The creative stack
| Format | Use |
|---|---|
| Packshot | Clean white or neutral background. Required for Amazon, Walmart, and email. |
| Lifestyle flat-lay | The product in context. Emotional pull on Meta and Instagram. |
| Short video (6–15s) | Hook, demo, offer. |
| UGC-style video | Low-production, authentic. Earns trust fast. |
| Story or Reel (9:16) | Vertical, full-screen placements. |
Generating creative with Higgsfield
Higgsfield is an AI image and video tool you can run from the command line. For a founder without a photographer or video crew, it closes the gap between having no assets and having something to test.
It can produce:
- Product photography with controlled lighting, surface, and background
- Lifestyle scenes with your product placed in context
- Short product videos
- Marketplace-ready images at the right aspect ratios
- Amazon A+ content panels
The workflow
- Start from your best real product photo as the reference
- Use Higgsfield to extend, relight, or place it in a new scene
- Generate several variations: angles, surfaces, moods
- Check every output for product accuracy: label text, colors, and shape have to match the real thing
- Test the strongest 3–5 against each other as separate ads
What it can't replace: real photography still wins on trust. In the first 90 days, mix generated assets with at least one real shoot, even a phone flat-lay on a clean surface. Lezzet's best-selling Meta ads were real photos.
The testing loop
The goal isn't one great creative. It's a repeatable way to find them.
- Generate 5–10 variants: different hooks, formats, angles
- Launch each as its own ad in a small test budget
- Read after 3–5 days: hook rate, click-through rate, cost per purchase
- Keep or kill: turn off what's clearly losing and move the winner into its own campaign
- Iterate: keep the winning hook and test new offers or formats against it
Your taste isn't the judge. The data is.
